SACA DONATES R130 000 TO OUR KIDS OF THE CAPE The Western Cape Committee of the South African Chefs Association have come together to donate a grand total of R130 000 to Our Kids of the Cape. KOTC is a NPO that supports a number of child-focused projects to ensure real, long-term impact on the welfare, education and health of children living in Cape Town. On Monday, 27 February, the South African Chef’s Association (SACA) handed over a cheque to the value of R130 000 to Our Kids of the Cape. The money was raised via the SACA gala dinner, which was held at Tsogo Sun in 2016 and will be held at Vineyard Hotel in 2017. Our Kids of the Cape has nine beneficiaries that will benefit from this donation. Lex Petousis, CEO of the Petousis Group (Vineyard Hotel, Townhouse Hotel and Oude Werf Hotel) says: “This is a massive endorsement by South African Chefs Association. When we started Our Kids of the Cape, we could not have imagined attracting this kind of donation. We will ensure that this generous gift is put to good use.” It was started by the Petousis family, who own a group of boutique hotels – Vineyard Hotel in Newlands, Townhouse Hotel in Cape Town CBD and Oude Werf Hotel in Stellenbosch. Petousis Group CEO, Lex Petousis says: My goal is to grow Our Kids of the Cape; it should go beyond the Petousis Group. Here is an example of how we can expand our reach. This initiative attracted support from chefs at hotels other than our own. By broadening our support base we can help even more children. We look forward to dividing this donation among our nine beneficiaries in the near future.” (http://www.ourkidsofthecape.co.za/) Leave a Reply Cancel ReplyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
