Purely Local Logo

Purely Local is a community magazine for the West Coast region and aims to plug into the community and to represent the heartbeat of the Cape West Coast. Covering topics from beauty and fashion to sport and business, we aim to enrich the lives of locals and uplift local businesses.

Purely Local is a print magazine (A3) for the West Coast community. We also have a website and are active on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest.

We are constantly bombarded by bad news in the media. We wanted to create a platform that celebrates local talent and success instead of the bad news. We want to inspire others and to showcase the West Coast’s beauty and success in a creative way in our magazine.

We launched in 2012 but relaunched Purely Local West Coast as a new product in 2014. We changed from an A4 magazine to a more vibrant and creative A3 magazine and plugged deeper into the community. We also launched in Johannesburg as Purely Local Jozi West. We will soon be launching in Jozi North, Cape Town and Northern Suburbs and are looking to expand even more.

We want to plug into our community and celebrate the beauty and wonder of the West Coast. We want to be a mouthpiece for the community and to give local businesses a chance to shine.

We work closely with SALT, a local NGO charity situated at View Church in Table View. We feature their stories in every issue and publish their magazine for them. They are very active in the community and we are very proud to be associated with them.

Jason Whitehouse is the publisher and mastermind behind the Purely Local brand. Each area has their own editor and writers yet all design work is done in-house at our company, Shout Factory Media and Advertising.  The editors are: Tania Theron (Purely Local West Coast) and Dallace Jolly (Purely Local Jozi West). Luke Stoch is the very talented designer of all the Purely Local magazines.
