Push the boat out this Father’s Day and treat Dad to some spectacular and rare vintage wines from Nederburg’s wine library, all beautifully cellared for optimal enjoyment. These special-edition, top-of-the-range wines are being brought out for one day only – Sunday, June 21 – to celebrate the first man in your life.  They will be paired with a hearty winter, super-tasty man-menu, that’s so beguilingly delicious, it will delight everyone at the table.

For just R295 a head (substantially less than the likely price of a single bottle of any of the wines being served), guests will be treated to a three-course meal, with each dish complemented by a glass of unique, limited edition wine from Nederburg’s connoisseur Private Bin range.  The richly layered and aromatic Viognier from the 2008 vintage will be served with a lightly curried mussel chowder with sweet corn stick bread.

A glass of the R181 Merlot, now 11 years’ old and showing lively red fruit flavours with the smoothest of tannins, will accompany a duet of lamb: braised shoulder and grilled rump, finished off with a delectably rich red wine jus. The top-secret dessert will be matched with the 2003 Noble Late Harvest Weisser Riesling. Its profusion of rose, honeysuckle and jasmine aromas and white peach and rich tropical fruit flavours will give chef Edmore Ruzoza ample scope in creating a dish to round off an exceptional experience.

Toast Dad and tell him one great vintage (his), deserves another, and another and another!

Lunch on Father’s Day will be served from 12:00. Booking is essential. To secure a booking, guests are kindly requested to pay a deposit of R150 per person in advance. Please call 021 877 5155, or send an e-mail to theredtable@nederburg.co.za to make a booking and pay the required deposit.

There will also be a wide selection of other Nederburg wines, offered by the glass and by the bottle, including the Nederburg Winemaster’s Reserve, Heritage Heroes and Ingenuity collections.

Vegetarians and those with special dietary needs can be accommodated. Kids are also catered for.

Before you leave Nederburg, take Dad to the Visitors’ Centre to try something completely new:  Nederburg’s just-released, connoisseur Ingenuity Spanish-style Blend 2012. The new blend forms part of the winery’s flagship Ingenuity collection, its showcase for innovation and originality. It sells for R280 a bottle.
