Roux has created a swim school, Happy Swimmers, which aims to teach young children to swim and prevent future drownings. With the aid of KFC Pretoria, which is sponsoring professional swimming coaches to give the children swimming lessons, Roux is making it possible for children aged two to five to be comfortable and safe in the water.

Swimming lessons are now held at the swimming pool at the Arcadia Primary School, which is also sponsored by KFC Pretoria. The programme takes place over a course of 12 weeks, where children are first taught to be comfortable in the water, then how to swim, and then how to be confident in the water.

The number of drownings in Gauteng doubled between December 2007 and December 2008. By sponsoring programmes like Happy Swimmers, KFC Pretoria hopes to make a difference in these statistics by ensuring that children learn water safety from an early age.

The company is also involved in sponsoring swimming lessons (and other sports activities) at selected less-fortunate primary schools through its Sport Development Program. These schools include Arcadia Primary School, Sunnyside Primary School, Hamilton Primary School, La Montagne Primary School, Silverton Primary School, Laerskool Oost-Eind, Laerskool Jopie Fourie, Laerskool Generaal Jacques Pienaar and Capital Park Primary School.
