STAY INSPIRED THIS WINTER Winter is a season of waiting. Waiting for spring, waiting for good weather. It’s a time to retreat inward and care for yourself (and to stay warm!) But we want to ask you…why wait? Use this time for YOU and the things that mean the most to you. If you’re having trouble beating the rainy-day blues, remember that winter provides us with an opportunity for alone time and family time. Take the glum weather as an opportunity for introspection or to brighten up the house! If inspiration is needed, try one of our top ten ways to beat the rainy day blues: watch a movie, pamper yourself, light a fire – soon you’ll forget the blustery weather and concentrate on the here and now. If you live in Johannesburg, try warming yourself up with a hot drink from Starbucks – the international coffee chain’s first store in South Africa recently opened in Rosebank and another will soon open in the Mall of Africa. Don’t forget to take a selfie! Achieve something this season A lot of people see winter as a time to “hibernate” from their goals. Don’t be one of them. Winter provides a great opportunity to reflect on what you want and to build the foundations of real change – if you stay inspired. Maybe your goal is to do something you’ve never tried before – like start an art collection or begin a new hobby. Winter is the perfect time to get a start, so you’re inspired to continue come spring! Make sure to surround yourself with inspiring people who will light a fire under you. (And don’t forget to take the time to sit around an actual fire!) Story-telling Speaking of fires, the classic winter activity is to sit around the fire telling stories with your family and friends. Story-telling is associated with dark nights, flickering fires and howling wind, but if you want further inspiration from fellow South Africans, check out MasterStories, a platform where can South Africans share their experiences with others. If you have a story to tell, inspiring others is just a few clicks away. Leave a Reply Cancel ReplyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
