ON A PROFESSIONAL NOTE

The special interests in my area of business/expertise are buying and selling real estate and financing and lending.

What I love most about my field of interest is that it is exciting and interesting.  Also, the people that I meet, their stories and the ability of real estate to create a legacy for them and their families.

Some of the defining moments in my career have been starting my own mortgage company in July of 2000.  I also built and contracted the building of my own home.

YOU AS AN INDIVIDUAL

My family consists of two grown daughters, both single

My hobbies and extra mural activities include playing tennis, exercising, travelling and shopping (especially for shoes!). I am actively involved in all of my real estate, and am usually contracting one renovation or another. I enjoy these projects as it allows me to indulge my more creative side.

I also have a second home in California, where I spend a great deal of time in the Winter

It is important for me that my personal time includes spending time with family and friends enjoying lots of laughs, travelling the globe and of course, eating ice cream and watching television shows.

YOUR PERSONAL INSPIRATION

My favorite quote is “whether you think you can or think you can’t, you are right” by Henry Ford

I am inspired by talented and successful people – people who have the ability to think outside the box and have a different view of the world.

The female role model who I believe inspires others in my field of interest is (the Secret) Rhonda Byrne

The male role model who I believe inspires others in my field of interest is Dr Wayne Dyer or Dale Carnegie.

LIVING A LEGACY

My personal message to the world is don’t underestimate yourself, but liase with innovative and positive people.  Borrow great ideas and write down and visualize your goals.  Diversify! Don’t put all of your eggs in one basket (or crabpot!).

Apparently, if a crab is placed in a bucket alone, it can easily crawl out.  But if you place it in a bucket with other crabs, they will pull each other down attempting to rise above them –thereby keeping all the other crabs stuck in the bucket.

Mentorship is important to me because you don’t have to reinvent the wheel, we can learn from each other!

I believe support/giving back to the community is important because if you feel fortunate like I do, it is important to give back!

AS AN AMBASSADOR FOR YOUR COUNTRY (CANADA)

If you were to visit my city, I would personally recommend that you visit the ocean and the moutains.    Bring your walking shoes.  The Stanley Park Seawall, which borders Stanley Park –  a huge beautiful park in the middle of the city, is an amazing walk.  We also have a huge indoor/outdoor market offering all kinds of fresh foods and crafts. And of course, don’t forget Robson Street, for all the high fashion!

SOME OPTIONAL QUESTIONS AND OTHER THOUGHTS

The best piece of advice I ever received was show up first thing in the morning, and put in a full days’ work

The secret to my success is being keen and excited and about my business.  Showing up everyday….

The literature that has influenced business includes Profit and Success magazines

My views on living a life of balance are work hard and play hard! Remember to exercise and that friends and friendships should be a part of your life.

To make our world a better place, I believe the key ingredient would be acceptance of one another in culture, religion and politics. We see the importance of this is Vancouver – where many people and cultures must live together in harmony.  We are a very diversified, multi national country.
