The Klapmutskop trail network has been expanded to give runners four distances to choose from when they take to the track on Sunday, 27 November at the Delvera Farm for the last event in the 2016 Falke Trail Run Series. Registration starts from 06h30 at the newly launched Dirtopia Trail Centre.  Staggered race starts will see the 15km runners set off at 08h00, 12.5km at 08h15, 7.5km at 08h30 and the 5km at 08h45.  The long distance runners will be competing for the coveted Klapmuts Cup trophy.

The longer routes offer great climbing on Jeep track through the vineyards towards Klapmutskop with rewarding single track trails and scenic winelands views of Table Mountain. The 12,5km blue route will give you more of a work-out and climbs on Jeep track amongst the vineyards towards Klapmutskop.  After about 8km of single track, the trail meets the last part of the green route just before the refreshment station.   The 15km includes an extra 3km single track section to the top of the hill (koppie) that is rocky and steep – for fit runners only!  There is a self-help water point at the halfway mark and a refreshment station about 4km from the finish.   Runners are advised to take along their own water.

The 7.5km loop on the green route has Jeep track and three fun single track sections.  One refreshment station is located at the halfway mark at Pepper Tree and this is also the start of the downhill section just below Klapmutskoppie.

The 5km Jeep track circles through the vineyards and around the farm dam with lots of birdlife. Walkers are welcome and this route is easy enough for trail run novices. No water points on this stage and no medals will be handed out.

Pre-entries close on Wednesday, 23 November and cost R80 for the 5km, R100 for the 7,5km, R120 for the 12,5km and R130 for the 15km.  Late entries (if available) will be taken on event day at 5km – R130 (no water point), 7.5km – R150, 12.5km – R170 15km – R180.

Don’t miss the prize giving and lucky draw around 11h00 and be sure to visit the Dirtopia Cafe to sample their delicious lunch menu. Recovery massages will be available on-site.  A 15 minute leg massage will cost R80, a 20 minute lower back and leg massage R100 and a 10 minute reflexology session R50.

Please note timing for late entries will only be live two days after the event.  Timing will be done with Amarider Trail Tags.  No tag, no time:  available to rent for R20 on the day or buy for R100.  Medals awarded for all finishers in the three longer distances and a refreshment station is available on the long routes.
