Ten high schools, with over 1200 teenagers and over 5000 friends, family and fans will gather at the Grand Arena, GrandWest on Saturday, 17 August 2019 for the High School Jam 2019.

This is the Cape’s favourite high school music event and this year is going to be even bigger and better than before.

“The ultimate objective of High School Jam is to unite teenagers, schools and communities through music, entertainment and performance,” says Elouise Matthys, the PR and Promotions Manager at GrandWest. “This event allows teenagers to develop self-esteem and self-belief through the support and mentorship of producers, choreographers, facilitators and industry specialists. It is a wonderfully uplifting event,” she says.

High schools taking part this year are West End Junior High, Portland High, Elsies River High, BAAP (a collaboration between non-music focus schools including Bridgetown High, Athlone High, Athlone School for the Blind and Peakview High), Plumstead High, Milnerton High, Cedar High School, South Peninsula High, Parow High School and Alexander Sinton High. The Inspired Stages Collaborative Showcase and The Carters will also be performing. A school will be performing every hour, on the hour.

Tickets are R60 and available from the schools or at the door. Doors to the Grand Arena will be closed during the 30-minute school performances and only open for entry into and from the Grand Arena between shows.
