A visit to Eagle Encounters provides a fantastic activity for both parents and children to enjoy. There aren’t many people in the world that can say they have had the chance to cuddle a barn owl, or to hold a Wahlberg’s eagle.

Heading back in time, visitors can learn more about the early wine industry and the history of the slave trade through the audio tour of the Spier farmstead, Gables. Beautifully presented, the tour incorporates an audio performance of a story written by acclaimed playwright Brett Bailey. Explore the farm and its surroundings while a mixture of fact and fiction is woven together to lift the curtain on the past and draw you into the world of Sannie de Goede, a ficitonal ghost from yester-year, as she tells you about her life as a slave on the wine farm 200 years ago.

For those wanting to extend their visit and spend more time immersed in the beauty of Spier, why not book a night or two at our luxurious Spier Hotel?

We are proud to be able to share our magical world with you and wait with anticipation for your arrival.
