V&A WATERFRONT YOUTH DAY KIDS MARKET IS MORE THAN POCKET MONEY! NPO teaches youth to earn, learn and have fun Date Friday, 16 June Time 11.30am to 2pm (prize giving 2pm to 2.30pm) Venue First floor, V&A Waterfront Watershed Organiser Linda Wilson 083 384 0590 This Youth Day 16 June, young Capetonians will showcase their flair for business at the Young Entrepreneurs Pocket Money Market at the V&A Waterfront. Between 11am and 2pm, approximately 40 young traders will occupy 26 stalls on the first floor above the Watershed Craft Market. Each stall will be manned by one or more children selling unique products, as the kids compete for the Entrepreneur of the Day crown. A further 10 children will perform busking activities and act as “news reporters”. Visitors to the Watershed will encounter a diverse range of offerings from tasty treats to soaps, arts and crafts, jewellery, plants, pet treats and even chilli and other great Father’s Day gifts. Aged between three and 16, the children might be young but there’s nothing childish about their business skills, with most already demonstrating the ability to turn opportunity into profit. For some, the money they raise funds their education, while others have already kick-started their careers and today supply local and international retailers. At 2pm, one lucky entrepreneur will add a main prize of R1 000 to their already significant piggy bank for the day. The prize will be awarded to traders that show ingenuity, creativity and originality. For more information, visit www.pocketmoneymarket.com.
