VOCALIST JOSIE MATABOLA BRINGS COMPOSITIONS ABOUT HER LIFE AND THE PEOPLE AROUND HER In association with Concerts SA and Seaman’s Corner, iSupport Music Business brings you vocalist Josie Matabola for a concert in Hammarsdale. Her and her band will be performing at Seamans Corner on Saturday 26 January 2019. Doors open at 7pm and tickets are available at the door for R30. The music project by jazz vocalist Josie Matabola is a collection of original and inspirational songs in Tswana, Isizulu south African languages and also covers some of her favorite artists. It offers fusions of South African jazz and American jazz . The project consists of rhythm section and voice to create an evocative sound, most of her songs are about her life and the people around her: “My composition Mme Le ntate is dedicated to my parents and I will also perform a song titled Lerato that I composed after the xenophobic attacks.” says Matabola. For this concert series Matabola heads up her own band featuring seasoned players Sanele Phakathi on keys, Dalisu Ndlazi on bass guitar and Sbu Zondi on drums. Blooming artist Josie Matabola is a deep-rooted rising jazz vocalist from Pretoria, with an alternatively defined sound to her music. She acquired her expertise at MC Art at The South African State Theatre and later moved to Vusi Mahlasela Music Academy, she is currently studying Jazz at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Currently looking to break barriers and advance her brand, she is working on building a reputable image through her music and possessing a number of tracks to her name, that she anticipates to serve to the public. Matabola is carrying out her music just as she has always wanted as it is a culmination of where she’s been and where she’s going, and one that is sure going to win her notoriety that is demanded by the depth and quality of her songs. This concert is part of the Concerts SA Venue Circuit that aims to foster a love and support for live music in our communities, as well as anchor small and medium-sized venues in urban and rural Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Western Cape. Concerts SA is a joint South African/Norwegian live music development project housed within the SAMRO Foundation. Concerts SA receives financial, administrative and technical support from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, SAMRO, the SAMRO Foundation and Concerts Norway. Working with musicians, promoters, venue owners and audiences, and providing support to the sector through research and skills development for music professionals, the project aims to build a vibrant and viable live music circuit in southern Africa. It also aims to develop an interest in and appreciation of live music by showcasing music performances and conducting workshops at schools.
