The Africa Women Innovation & Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) is a pan-African and international women’s economic empowerment gathering of Africa’s established and next generation women in business, innovators and entrepreneurs.

 

In its third year running, the annual AWIEF Conference & Exhibition is an ideal continental platform for showcase, discussion and dialogue on issues concerning women entrepreneurship and innovation. AWIEF features participation from African and global leading institutions and decision-makers seeking to transform the African economy with women equality and empowerment as drivers of development. The event brings together a multi-sector mix of established and emerging businesses, governments, support organizations and programmes, all within the entrepreneurial ecosystem and actively seeking opportunities, ideas, solutions, information and guidance.

 

The 3rd Africa Women Innovation & Entrepreneurship Forum will take place on 5 – 6 October 2017 in Cape Town, South Africa at the Century City Conference Centre.

 

As an objective, AWIEF creates networking opportunities and dialogue for all delegates and attendees with intra-Africa business connections, knowledge-sharing and peer-learning.

 

The event provides an opportunity to explore approaches, share perspectives and best practices in building bridges and creating linkages, supporting female entrepreneurship and gender mainstreaming.

 

Powerful keynote speakers of the past two forums, hosted in Nigeria, have greatly enriched the audience with their presentations. These included the Nigerian Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Distinguished Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan, the Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, represented by Mrs. Lola Akande, Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, and Mrs. Nike Ogunlesi, Founder and Chief Responsibility Officer, Ruff n Tumble.

 

A ministerial panel that comprised panelists from government and the corporate sectors showcased and highlighted key gender-related and women economic empowerment initiatives and programmes.

 

Exemplary African women Founders and CEOs of outstanding and highly successful companies and businesses share their stories, experiences and insights. Speaking truth to power and rallying people to action.
