SKIN BLEMISHES In a proverb from the 16th century some man said that ‘Beauty is only skin deep’ and in my humble opinion, he was only partially correct. But beauty is important and we all like to be surrounded by beauty and beautiful things. Skin, now that is a different matter altogether. We would all like to have smooth, even toned, flawless skin which does not need any make up or correction, but that is not the case in daily life. We live in South Africa on the African continent and it is sunny here. Our leisure time is mostly spent outdoors, even if it is just sitting on the patio or veranda at home where there is a bit of a breeze during the heat of summer. And sun exposure has a severe effect on the skin, especially facial skin. When we play sport, it is mostly in sunshine and for those with a light skin colour, that could mean sunburn and skin damage. For those with a dark skin colour it takes a bit longer, but there will be skin damage as well in the end. Especially darker skin blemishes. Skin Blemishes Skin ageing and blemishes are mostly caused by systematic sun exposure. Facial blemishes, hyperpigmentation, skin imperfections, even acne scars are mostly the result of our skin pigment called melanin which is the cause of uneven skin tone. Blemishes that are darker than our regular skin colour, especially on the hands and face is not pleasing and most of us are always looking for a remedy or solution to regain that beautiful flawless skin and uniform skin tone. The Cosmelan Depigmentation treatment When considering any kind of facial treatment one is always concerned about the safety aspects and what can be done if something goes wrong. The Cosmelan Depigmentation treatment promises to improve blemishes dramatically, and the result will start becoming visible after just one week. It works by blocking the process that causes hyperpigmentation and it will be effective for all types of melasma (a dark skin discoloration that appears on sun-exposed areas of the face), brown spots, blotchy skin, acne scars and helps prevent hyperpigmentation after laser treatment. Cosmelan treatment has a very high safety margin and can be done on all skin types. The main action of the product is the elimination of melasma patches on the face. The treatment is versatile and dynamic and can be adapted to the needs of each person. Melasma is called chloasma when it occurs during pregnancy and is a uniform brown colour that appears on cheeks, forehead, nose or upper lip. Melasma tends to occur in women using oral contraceptives or those using hormone replacement therapy during menopause as it is associated with oestrogen and progesterone. Stopping using such products often reverses the discolouration. At a Skin Renewal clinic, a Mesoestetic Mandelic Acid peel of 30% is applied immediately before the mask treatment at no extra cost, and this peel in combination with the Cosmelan treatment will deliver the best results. What to expect There are a few precautions that must be considered before and during treatment, but you will be advised of these. During the first two days after treatment, the skin may turn red and there may be an itchy feeling, slight burning or tightening of the skin. At a later stage there may be some flaking of the skin, but by Day 4 after treatment has started, healthy and luminous skin will start appearing and the marks begin to fade. Needless to say, the use of a very good sun block is absolutely essential at all times. Dermamelan Depigmentation treatment For more persistent and severe cases, there is another product called Dermamelan Depigmentation treatment that has similar active ingredients to Cosmelan, but at 20% higher concentration. The mask treatment and follow up must be done under the strict supervision of a cosmetic doctor. For the best results of both Cosmelan and Dermamelan you should understand that the long term success of this treatment is how well the follow up treatment is adhered to during both the treatment and stabilization phases. Even if the depigmentation treatment was a great success, the treatment should always be continued for a longer time to ensure long term success. Both Cosmelan and Dermamelan benefit working and out of town patients who suffer from pigmentation but are unable to attend in office treatments every 2 weeks . After the initial in office peel and mask treatment, further treatment is continued at home by applying the depigmentation cream , ensuring a great result. It would be so nice to use make up only for enhancing one’s beautiful skin, and not to need it to cover up those dark spots and acne scars. Imagine being caught without make up and not worrying about it! Cosmelan and Dermamelan make this all possible. www.skinrenewal.co.za Leave a Reply Cancel ReplyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
