Online shopping is the perfect way to get everything you want without having to leave the house or the office. When you’re a naturally busy person, it can be difficult to find the time to go shopping. The internet makes it easier to buy everything from gifts to cars. It’s great.
But there are things you shouldn’t buy online. Here are a few things you should think about before entering your credit card details.
Have you seen it in person?
If you’ve seen a shirt in person but the store didn’t have the colour, then go ahead and purchase it online. If you know a popular brand of sneakers and see a deal online, go for it. But if you’re shopping online and you have never seen the product in person, spend a little more time deciding whether you should buy it.
That is not to say you shouldn’t buy products you haven’t seen before online. Many people shop online for things they can’t find in physical stores. You just need to research the product for a little longer, that’s all.
Does size matter?
Buying clothes online is great if you know your size and the store. But certain items can be tricky. For example, buying a bra online is safe if you know the brand and have a consistent size. Dresses for special events, however, should be bought carefully. The fit is important and it may be longer or shorter than it looks on the screen.
Furniture is one of those things you have to be careful about when purchasing online, especially if it’s a private seller. You need to see it in person to make sure the colour matches the room and it fits correctly. You don’t want to buy a couch on Gumtree and find out it’s 2cm too big for your living room. However, you can request the exact measurements and double check the space it needs to go in.
Do you trust the seller?
We’ve all heard horror stories of people buying things online and regretting it when they actually receive the product. If you buy from a reputable online retail store, you’re likely to get what you pay for. But if you’re buying something from a private seller online, you have to be wary. Look out for warning signs that you may be being scammed. Ask for pictures from all angles so you can get a better idea of the product.
There are some things you can buy online, like books, without giving it a second thought. But some purchases should be given a little more consideration.
