About Your Business

Tell us about what you do (what product or service you provide and who your target audience is). I am an author/entrepreneur.

I have been involved in youth work. I am currently a child and youth care worker. So my primary work has been community based and youth work. I wrote a book to assist me in my work and my target audience is young people.

What or who has been your greatest influence in business and why?

I would say the lack of business opportunities in my community. I am the youngest and first to write and self-publish a children’s book in my community.

What would you say is your greatest professional accomplishment to date? 

Writing and publishing my first children’s book for girls/women. 

What have been the most effective marketing initiatives or programs you have used to promote your business?

I had two book launches and I make use of social media. I have a page on Facebook, called Awures.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Getting the opportunity to inspire young people and to help make a difference in their lives.

Has the impact of the online space and social media made an impact on your business and why?

Yes, I can reach people beyond my community and that has helped with book sales.

What one thing have you learned that has served you well over the years?

Never compare your journey with the journey of others. I am not afraid to fail or make mistakes.

On Motivation

How do you motivate yourself and stay motivated? 

I make use of affirmations. I surround myself with people who is resilient and disciplined. My biggest motivation is the journey of where I come from and what I have achieved so far.

On Leadership

How would you describe your leadership style?

My leadership style is a combination of affiliative and visionary. Putting people first and ensuring harmony amongst those I work with.

What leadership qualities do you most admire?

Integrity. Empathy. Discipline.

What women inspires you and why?

My mother and wife. I admire their strength and resilience. They continue to shine their light despite the many obstacles they had to overcome. 

About Yourself

If you knew then what you know now, what would you tell your 18-year-old self?

That it will be one hell of a journey going forward but it will be worth it.

How do you get balance in your life? 

I pause when things get overwhelming. 

What’s Next?

What is Number One Business Goal you plan to accomplish over the next year?

I want to publish my second book. I also want to get my current book in the hands of as many girls in schools as possible.


Who is your inspiration when it comes to what you do? 

Myself and where I come from. My wife and daughter, they inspire me to be better and do better.

What are your other passions, besides being fabulous?

I love to travel. Get to know new people and places. I love to learn new things. I am also passionate about the youth and their well-being. 

What is the worst thing you have had to overcome to be better at being you?

It is not about proving others wrong, it is about proving yourself right.

My mindset. My ability to adapt and to be open to change.

What was your first job and how did it help you get to where you are now?

I was a youth coach. It served as inspiration to write my first book.

If you had 30 minutes to impress someone, what would you do?

I would listen to them, affirm them and serve them.
