The global health crisis has completely shifted the way we live our lives. Many of us are looking for a new normal to help stay optimistic and ensure we remain in a positive space. Transformation begins with adjusting how you take care of your mind, body and soul.

Transform your mind

  • Limit negative consumptions

With the amount of information out there, it’s very easy to get sucked into a spiral of negativity. While it’s essential to keep in touch with current events and critical social moments, too much bad news can weigh heavily on your outlook. When you start to feel overwhelmed by bad news, it’s a good idea to take a break from it. Alternatively, try approaching your news consumption differently by setting yourself a time limit, for example.

  • Develop a daily routine

Your new normal will need to begin by setting up a routine – standardise your wake times, meal times, exercise and work activities. This will help to establish a level of predictability which makes forming new and healthy habits easier.

  • Use the time you have found

Being limited mainly to your home means time is abundant. Use the extra time effectively to make your new normal more productive and rewardingPerhaps it’s time to pick up a new hobby or to spend more quality time with your family. No matter what you use the extra time for, make sure it adds to your fulfilment.

Transform your body

  • Get plenty of sleep

It can be tough to nod off with all the anxiety associated with the global health crisis hovering over us like a raincloud. But try to develop a regular and relaxed sleep routine to ensure that you are sufficiently rested – it will help to stave off the effects of stress and burnout.

  • Keep moving

It’s important to keep yourself active, especially during high-stress times. Exercise is proven to release endorphins which can help to boost your mood. Even gentle activities are a great way to take care of your physical wellbeing. Lower intensity movement such as yoga and Pilates is ideal during stressful times, and can help to reduce anxiety and stress.

  • Focus on self-care

Invest in your personal, physical welfare and self-care as these are often features that we neglect when times get tough or routines change. Focusing on self-care can help to boost your self-esteemand help you to feel happier. Ensure that you take the time each day to:

  • moisturise dry, frequently washed and sanitised hands with a silky, luxurious hand cream. Purchase the best quality hand cream you can, it will make all the difference.
  • Take care of your hair by regularly washing and conditioning it. Add a regular treatment for dry hair or a split end treatment for added attention.
  • Moisturise your body from head to toe using a body lotion designed for your skin type. Don’t forget to make sure every inch of your body is attended to. Everywhere from your feet to your underarms should be considered. Opt for an antiperspirant roll-on or spray deodorant that will not only protect but also care for your underarms

Transform your soul

  • Extend a hand to those in need

From supporting local businesses that may be struggling, to offering your time or resources at a local soup kitchen. Wherever you can, helping those in need is a great way to remind yourself that despite what you are going through, as a community we are here for one another. Charity, especially during difficult times, is a great way to help lift your spirits and give you a sense of purpose.

  • Practice random acts of kindness

Whether it’s writing cards offering kind words or affirmations to strangers or perhaps thanking a security guard or essential worker for their continued efforts. Random acts of kindness are good not only for your soul, but they have an impact on other people as well. Keep life positive wherever you can by offering random acts of kindness, and it doesn’t need to cost a thing.

  • Take a daily gratitude

Try to close out each day with a positive reflection of your day. Reflect on things that you may have learned, achieved or simply something you are grateful for. This is a great way to add a positive spin to your life even when things get tough and dilute some of the negativity that you may be feeling.

These are just some of the things you can focus on to boost the wellbeing of your mind, body and soul and transform your outlook to remain positive and confident, even in the face of uncertainty.
