LIEFDE BY DIE DAM HEADS TO CAPE TOWN The Liefde by die Dam festival is back on Saturday, 16 November 2019 and heading to Meerendal Wine Estate, Cape Town. Popular comedian Schalk Bezuidenhout will MC the day, introducing a stellar line up of eleven top South African artists and bands. Spotify is proud to support local festivals and artists through collaborations that promote the music on its platforms. To give festival goers and fans a taste of what to expect, Spotify has curated a Liefde by die Dam playlist. “Spotify continues to give South African artists a platform to feature on an international stage, allowing them to showcase their music to a diverse crowd of 248 million monthly active listeners. Spotify also introduces global audiences to music and artists they may otherwise not have been able to discover, especially for niche genres like Afrikaans, which are unique to a specific country, ” says Claudius Boller, Spotify MD, Middle East & Africa. The popularity of the Afrikaans music genre is evident in the streaming uptake of Afrikaans music on the platform, with Afrikaans artists and tracks featuring on Spotify’s local ‘most streamed’ lists.
