OCTOBER EVENTS AT THE V&A WATERFRONT 2019 Date: Saturday, 5 October 12h00 – 22h30 Sunday, 6 October 10h00 – 20h00 Venue: Jetty 2, fishing vessels berthed against Quay 6 and Jetty 2 Entry: R40 per entry (Children under 12 and pensioners – R20) On Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 October, the Portuguese Cultural and Welfare Centre of Cape Town will gather together at the V&A Waterfront’s Jetty 2 for their annual Blessing of the Fishing Fleet Festival. This annual gathering also serves as a chance to pray for the fishermen and the upcoming fishing season. Join the community for live entertainment, a beer garden and traditional Portuguese food on sale from 12pm to 10:30pm on Saturday, and from 10am to 8pm on Sunday. Everyone is invited to join the special Sunday Mass, and the Blessing the Fleet procession through the Waterfront from 10:30am. Astronomy Outreach Date: 5 October 2019 Time: 15h00 – 21h30 Venue: Pierhead Cost: Free On Saturday, 5 October between 3pm and 9:30pm at the V&A Waterfront’s Pierhead, you can observe the Sun, the Moon and other heavenly bodies through an array of telescopes provided by the Cape Centre of the Astronomical Society of Southern Africa. Cape Town International Boat Show Date: 18 to 20 October 2019 Time: 09h00 – 17h00 Venue: V&A Marina Cost: https://www.webticket.co.za/event.aspx?itemid=1492538848 Don’t miss the annual Cape Town International Boat Show taking place at North Wharf, V&A Waterfront from the 18th to the 20th of October. The event will showcase a display of the world’s finest yachts, catamarans and exotic boats. Come along for some family fun and interactive water activities. Waterfront Canal Challenge Date: 19 October 2019 Time: 08h00 – 16h00 Venue: V&A Marina & Battery Park Cost: Free Join the Waterfront Rotary Club in partnership with the V&A Waterfront at the Waterfront Canal Challenge swim at Battery Park on Saturday, 19 October. The event will be held on the same weekend as the Cape Town International Boat Show. Through this family fun event the Waterfront Rotary Club continues to “wage war against single-use plastic” to raise awareness about pollution in our oceans and on our beaches. Join the competition to build art forms from plastic ocean waste and winners in various categories will receive great prizes.
