BE FASHION-FORWARD WHILE HELPING VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE
Find your style this women’s month on Friday 8 August at the Voice of Courage Fashion Show, while giving a helping hand to victims of gender based violence at Yokhuselo Haven.
For the second year, Boardwalk and Camelot Spa will partner with local designers, hair stylists and make-up artists to host the charity fund-raising event. During the evening models will showcase new trends from talented local designers and will show off new looks in hairstyling and make-up. Fagrie Isaacs and Jade Engelbrecht will treat everyone attending to a live performance, while Boardwalk will provide finger snacks.
Your R300 ticket gains you entry to Boardwalk Convention Centre but more importantly, it will be donated to the haven to assist vulnerable women and children.
Since 1988, Yokhuselo has offered a warm and loving safe haven for women and children affected by domestic violence. The cost of providing victims with shelter, food, clothing, toiletries, access to health facilities, assistance in procuring protection orders and trauma counselling is R35 000 per month.
During the event, Antoinette Hamman from Yokhuselo Haven will also talk about the skills they provide from basic counselling and knowledge about legal rights, to self-defence and first-aid classes, and preparation for police and court procedures. While at the home the women are also taught new skills to become financially independent. Hamman will be joined by other speakers who will share their personal GBV journeys.
