The intensity of the heavy rains and wind that lashed the city over the weekend and yesterday has caused widespread damage and brought enormous suffering to many residents. To bring some immediate relief, GrandWest’s Social Economic Development committee set aside R132 000 to buy blankets, toiletries and non-perishable food items. This morning the team conducted a small handover at the Disaster Risk Management Office in Goodwood.
“Our hearts go out to the victims of this storm. We could not look the other way while so many have lost everything they have, little though it was. We hope these blankets will bring them some measure of warmth and comfort,” said Mervyn Naidoo, GrandWest General Manager.
