As restaurants around the country wage war against the crippling effects of Covid-19, one of the most remarkable things to witness is the outpouring of their resources and skills to uplift those in greater need.
Starting today, AURUM Restaurant in partnership with Legacy Pride – Legacy Hotel & Resort’s NPC, will be launching its #AURUMSoupDrive, serving homemade soup and bread to those communities who do not have access to a regular meal.
For every dish purchased off the new AURUM Home | Comfort menu, a cup of soup and bread will be donated to the following initiatives and their communities: Ikageng (Soweto), Alexandra Child Care and Support Centre (Alexandra); Diepsloot Residents Association (Diepsloot); Itlhokomeleng Association for the Care of the Aged & Disabled Persons (Alexandra); and New BeginningZ (Laudium).
The new menu features delicious and easy, heat-and-eat options including soups, casseroles, pasta dishes and desserts, available in portions perfect for two, four or more people.
“Being in the business of food means that we have a responsibility to share the joy of a wholesome winter meal with those in need, not just with our paying customers. For the next three months, we have set ourselves a target of serving 25,000 cups of soup and 2,500 loaves of bread. We hope that this will help the many communities who do not have access to a regular meal, never mind a wholesome, homecooked one,” says Paulo Santo, MD of AURUM Restaurant.
Commenting on the partnership, Robert Hodson, Group Marketing Manager for Legacy Hotels & Resorts said Legacy Pride would contribute a cup for every cup prepared for the first 1,000 orders.
“Giving back is very much part of the Legacy story,” says Hodson, “and we hope that this partnership makes a difference to those in need.”
