A lay-by is a really good way for South Africans to budget without the need for credit, so that their winter items can be paid off over 4 months, interest-free.
Sometimes, waiting four months for those essential winter items like babygrows, blankets, and school jerseys can feel like a long, long time. That’s where the community can help, by becoming a PEP Lay-By Buddy.
What is the PEP Lay-by Buddy Initiative?
The PEP Lay-by Buddy initiative encourages South Africans to make a difference by donating to help pay off another South African’s lay-by, because buddies don’t let buddies wait.
How can I become a PEP Lay-by Buddy?
You can easily pay off someone else’s lay-by online through the PEP website. Simply select how much you want to donate, from as little as R20, and pay via the secure payment gateway. Your donation will go directly to a real PEP lay-by customer in a PEP store.
How do PEP’s lay-by customers receive their Buddie’s donations?
All donations go through a computer-generated draw, where unpaid lay-bys are identified, and those customers are notified by SMS. The lucky lay-by customers will receive a voucher code to redeem against their outstanding PEP lay-by balance.
