Fedgroup Impact Farming investors will now be able to tap into the CBD market by investing in Cannaboid hemp on the Fedgroup App. This brings the number of assets on the Impact Farming platform to seven.
Investors are now able to invest in hemp for R1 000 with a projected annual profit of 12%-14% over the three-year investment term. There are currently 9 100 units that have been made available on the platform. The plants are harvested once a year between March and May, with payments to investors expected in August.
“This investment will assist the farmers to benefit from the considerable economic opportunity that this crop provides but will also play a crucial role in job creation and skills development,” says Warren Winchester, General Manager: Ventures at Fedgroup.
South Africa is perfectly poised to benefit from the international CBD market, not only for local production but also for export. “The South African government is also active in facilitating the growth of the industry,” says Winchester.
Last year the global CBD market was calculated to have a market value of USD 4.5bn market, by 2028 the value of this market is expected to reach USD 20bn.
The strain of hemp that is being farmed has a very low THC level and is suitable to produce CBD which is used in medicinal and health products.
