This Mother’s Day, families are invited to celebrate the special women in their lives with a full weekend of memorable experiences at Middelvlei Wine Estate, where heartfelt hospitality, beautiful Winelands views and comforting farm-style food come together.
Set in the heart of Stellenbosch, Middelvlei will honour moms with two delicious occasions; a relaxed pre-Mother’s Day brunch on Saturday, followed by a traditional Mother’s Day offering on Sunday.
Pre-Mother’s Day Brunch (9 May)
Start the celebrations early with a flavour-packed brunch menu featuring gourmet roosterkoek creations. Included in the cost of R225 per person you’ll get to enjoy one of the following as well as a glass of bubbly:
- Smoked salmon, scrambled egg and herb cream cheese roosterkoek with pickled red onion, crispy capers and rocket;
- “Steak and egg” roosterkoek with wholegrain mustard sauce, crispy onions and fresh mustard leaves;
- Braaied mushroom “steak” roosterkoek with fried egg, Boerenkaas, fresh rocket and chimichurri.
(No bubbly. Just brunch. No problem. The cost is R155 per person.)
The perfect excuse to gather the family, raise a glass and toast Mom ahead of the big day.
Mother’s Day Menu (10 May)
Guests will begin with stokbrood served with Bokkom Butter. This will be followed by a generous main course spread of curried lamb sosaties with mint yoghurt, boerewors, BBQ spiced chicken wings, fresh Caprese Salad with fire-roasted cocktail tomatoes, Fior De Latte and Basil, a classic South African three-bean salad, braaied corn on the cob with Chilli Lime Butter, and cheesy garlic bread baked in foil. To end on a sweet note, dessert is a decadent Milk Tart Mille-Feuille. The cost is R375 per person.
