First it was Stage 2, or was that Stage 3? Now suddenly load-shedding has reached Stage 5 till 4pm, then Stage 6 from 4pm; we prepare for a four-hour blackout, but the lights stay on? As South Africans, we are mystified, confused and frustrated, no matter how well we know your numbers.
So, if you’ve planned your busy day around the published load-shedding schedule and worked out when to prepare dinner – and then Stage 6 kicks in, you may very well wonder: what saucery is this? Well, it’s the new Chicken Arroz family meal from Nando’s, load-shedding friendly, to save the day!
After a successful trial in 2022, Nando’s has reintroduced the Chicken Arroz as a permanent addition to the menu. It’s a Flame-grilled full chicken, basted in the flavour of your choice, served on a generous bed of Spicy Rice and topped with the delicious Nando’s Arroz sauce – a creamy tomato-based sauce so delicious and intriguing, it’s suspiciously good.
Jessica Wheeler, GM: Brand Strategy and Communications at Nando’s, says: “The Chicken Arroz was well-received when we introduced it as a limited time offer in May last year. As a brand that listens to our customers, we took their feedback and learnings, made a few tweaks, and are thrilled to be bringing this meal back onto our menu. It’s a perfect option for friends and families to share when Stage 6 hits.”
This all-in-one dish is available now at Nando’s restaurants nationwide. The Chicken Arroz is prepared as a convenient, ready-to-eat sharing meal that can go straight from the Nando’s grills onto your lunch or dinner table, no matter what the load-shedding stage. So, as the cool kids would say, give the people what they want when they most want it!
