Tokara, the acclaimed family owned Stellenbosch wine estate, has swept the board as one of the top performing cellars at the 10-Year-Old Wine Report 2021 with three Top 10 wines and best white wine overall.
Hot on the heels of being awarded 2020 Winery of the Year, this is the 5th consecutive year that Tokara has shown its prowess at this competition convened annually by Winemag.co.za to showcase age-worthy South African wines from the 2011 vintage.
Showing remarkable ageability and consistency, this year’s Top Ten Tokara winners are all white wines with the highest score overall of 94 points awarded to the Director’s Reserve White 2011. The other Tokara wines to make this year’s Top 10 ranking are the Reserve Collection Chardonnay 2011 with 93 on the 100-point scale and the Reserve Collection Sauvignon Blanc 2011 on 92 points. The ultra-elegant Cap Classique, Tokara Blanc de Blancs 2011 also broke the venerable 90 point barrier with a score of 92 points.
These award winning wines underscore Tokara’s standing as a world class producer of wines of great longevity and sense of place. They are a true reflection of everything the estate stands for – refinement, elegance and balance.
