Franschhoek never disappoints when it comes to beautiful, world-class experiences, and our visit to Eleven Restaurant Franschhoek was no exception. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the most stunning weather — the kind that makes the Winelands feel even more magical. The setting strikes the perfect balance between elegance and relaxation, creating an atmosphere that feels both refined and welcoming.
Named after its location on Huguenot Street, Eleven presents an exceptional fusion of contemporary global cuisine inspired by bold themes. The space itself is a reflection of this philosophy — a stylish yet laid-back ambiance where industrial elements like wood, exposed brick, and burnished copper blend seamlessly with the refinement of delicate flavours and an outstanding selection of wines. It’s modern, inviting, and effortlessly sophisticated.

We were welcomed with a glass of summer — the refreshing and beautifully crisp Miss Molly Champagne — setting the tone for what would be an exceptional culinary journey. It was the perfect way to ease into the experience, instantly making us feel relaxed and taken care of.
Our experience was further elevated by our wonderful waiter, Sihle, whose warm personality, attentiveness, and knowledge truly stood out. His passion for the menu and attention to detail made us feel completely at ease. Stephan was equally accommodating, ensuring everything flowed seamlessly throughout the afternoon.
Before our starters arrived, we were served warm, freshly baked bread accompanied by a creamy sauce topped with sesame seeds — it was comforting, flavourful, and the perfect way to begin the meal.

We opted for the full food menu at R1250 per person, paired with the wine pairing at R750 each — and it was worth every cent.
We started with a delightful selection of small bites — a free-range chicken taco topped with jalapeño and fresh salsa, which was bursting with flavour and had just the right balance of heat and freshness. Alongside it, the Kroonstad oxtail arancini served with chilli aioli was rich, crispy on the outside and perfectly tender inside, with deep, comforting flavours elevated by a subtle spicy kick from the aioli. This was perfectly paired with a refreshing beer, which complemented the bold flavours and added a relaxed, easygoing touch to the experience.

We then had the La Colline Egg Espuma, a beautifully delicate and creamy introduction. The trout caviar added a subtle burst of saltiness, perfectly balanced by the richness of the onion bacon jam. Paired with the crisp Maison Brut 2021, the dish was elevated by refreshing, lively bubbles.

Next was the Three Streams Mediterranean Trout, dressed in a light champagne dressing and complemented by avocado and bursts of pomegranate. This dish was fresh, vibrant, and layered with flavour, paired beautifully with the Lynx Blanc de Noir 2025, which enhanced its delicate notes.

The Leeu Dassenberg Beetroot followed — a visually stunning vegetarian dish featuring earthy beetroot, creamy goat’s cheese, and a satisfying chilli crunch. The Rickety Bridge Sauvignon Blanc 2025 brought a bright, zesty contrast that lifted the dish beautifully.

We then moved on to the Kalahari Gemsbok Carpaccio, which was incredibly tender and refined. Served with barigoule dressing, organic microgreens, and radish, it was both elegant and flavourful. The Holden Manz Chenin Blanc 2024 paired effortlessly, adding a smooth, slightly fruity balance.

For the next course, we enjoyed the Fresh Water Tilapia, served with bell pepper, lentils, and a unique granola element that added texture and depth. The Great Heart Chardonnay 2023 complemented the dish with its creamy finish. The mushroom dumpling was incredibly comforting, with its rich, flavourful broth.

For the main course, we had the La Combé Suckling Pig, which was undoubtedly a standout. Perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavour, it was served with roasted plums, organic baby turnips, and a rich plum jus. The Chamonix Pinot Noir 2023 was the ideal pairing — light yet complex, enhancing every bite.

Notably, the beef option — sourced from Kroonstad — highlights the restaurant’s commitment to quality, locally sourced ingredients, adding even more depth to the dining experience.

To end, we indulged in the Hillcrest Raspberry Opera Cake, a beautifully balanced dessert with layers of sweetness and tartness, finished with pistachio dust and a refreshing blueberry sorbet. The Rickety Bridge Noble Late Harvest 2024 added a luscious, indulgent finish.

What truly stood out was how the menu evolves seasonally, ensuring each visit feels fresh, exciting, and in tune with the finest ingredients available. This dedication to seasonality, paired with locally sourced produce and wines from the Franschhoek region, creates an authentic and thoughtfully curated dining experience.
Beyond the food, it’s the overall experience that makes Eleven so special — the seamless service, the attention to detail, the storytelling behind each dish, and the relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere. Every element comes together to create something truly memorable.
From start to finish, this was an exceptional dining experience — one that perfectly captures the essence of Franschhoek’s culinary excellence.
