Jazz In The City returns for the winter season and is excited to announce the continuation of the Inter-Generational Conversations series.
The launch event back in March featured the father and son duo Steve & Bokani Dyer, bringing together two generations of the Dyer-Tribe family legacy.
The Inter-Generational baton will next be handed over to Madala Kunene and Sibusile Xaba – an internationally acclaimed duo known for fusing their respective sounds of jazz, malombo, maskandi and Zulu blues.
Madala Kunene is not just a musician; he is a musical shaman. An elder statesman weaving a tapestry of sound that embodies a profound healing essence. His journey from Cato Manor to the global stage is a testament to the transformative power of music.
Charismatic guitar guru Sibusile Xaba reframes maskandi and the avant garde into his own deeply spiritual manifesto.
Together, Madala Kunene and Sibusile Xaba form a beacon of authenticity—a rare fusion of tradition and innovation that speaks to the timeless and the now…. the legacy and the future.
Their collaboration is not just music; it’s a ritual, a conversation across generations, and a celebration of cultural continuity.
