There’s something special about being invited to an experience that already carries so much intention — and that’s exactly how my journey at the Corona Sunsets Festival began.
Myself and my plus one were fortunate enough to attend this year’s Cape Town edition, and from the moment we arrived, it felt like we had stepped into more than just a music festival — it was a beautifully curated lifestyle space.
The Set-Up & Overall Vibe
What immediately stood out was the set-up — effortlessly stylish, yet grounded in nature.
Think:
• Natural wood textures and earthy tones
• Palm trees and open, airy spaces
• Cozy lounge areas to sit back and unwind
• A stage perfectly positioned to complement the sunset
The entire layout felt intentional and immersive, with each section flowing seamlessly into the next. Whether you were dancing, relaxing, or exploring, nothing felt overcrowded or chaotic.
The vibe?
Laid-back, elevated, and consciously cool.
It wasn’t just about looking good — it felt good too.
The Atmosphere & Culture
There was a strong sense of community and connection throughout the day.
People weren’t just there to party — they were there to:
• Engage
• Experience
• Be present
It created a space where strangers could easily connect, and where the energy remained positive, respectful, and uplifting from start to finish.
A Taste of Something Different
One of my personal highlights was the Farm-to-Fire dining experience.
It wasn’t just about grabbing food on the go — it was a moment:
• Open-fire cooking
• Fresh, flavourful dishes
• A shared dining atmosphere
It really brought people together in such a natural way and added a unique, almost intimate touch to a large-scale event.
Thoughtful Details Matter
One thing I truly appreciated was the attention to detail across the entire festival.
• The bathrooms were clean and well-maintained (a big win at any event!)
• The grounds were kept tidy throughout the day
• Each activation and space felt well-organised and easy to navigate
These details made the experience feel comfortable, premium, and stress-free.
The Music & The Build-Up
The music carried the day beautifully — starting off relaxed and gradually building into a vibrant, high-energy atmosphere as the sun began to set.
Each artist added something unique, and you could feel the crowd becoming more connected with every set.
I was especially excited for the final performances:
• Ndlovu Youth Choir
• Liquideep
• DJ Kent
• Purple Disco Machine
When the Wind Took Over
Unfortunately, due to strong winds, the event had to end earlier than expected, and the final acts were cancelled.
Of course, I won’t lie — I was really looking forward to those last three performances. But at the same time, there was a shared understanding across the crowd:
Safety always comes first.
The way it was handled showed responsibility and care from the organisers — and that matters.
Ending on a Positive Note
Even with an early ending, the experience still felt complete.
Because it was never just about the final set — it was about:
• The incredible set-up and atmosphere
• The culture and connection
• The food, the spaces, the small moments
Corona Sunsets Festival truly lives up to its name — it’s more than music.
And for me, it was an unforgettable day filled with beautiful energy, meaningful moments, and a reminder that sometimes, even when things don’t go as planned… the experience can still be exactly what it needed to be.
