Summer by the ‘sea’ in the heart of North West
After a year which often felt like the bad sequel of 2020, it is time to pack your bags and enjoy a holiday in the sun at Sun International’s ever-popular Sun City Resort.
The North West holiday destination expects to be fully booked for most of the holiday season, so now is the time to book to avoid disappointment, says Brett Hoppé, Sun City’s General Manager. “Let Sun City be ‘Your City of Cheer’ this festive season.”
As if the many thrilling activities – from Waterworld to Valley of Waves, Sun City Casino and two golf courses aren’t enough, the Resort is located along the border of the Pilanesberg National Park, making it the only surf-and-safari destination within a two-hour drive of landlocked Johannesburg.
“Whether you’re looking for a romantic stay with your partner, a fun midweek getaway with friends or a holiday with the whole family, Sun City Resort has it all,” Hoppé said. The kids will love the entertainment at Kamp Kwena, which offers a packed holiday programme.
“Sun City kick-starts the holiday season with our annual tree lighting ceremony at the Welcome Centre on November 28, with some treats, live entertainment and of course, our magical festive lights being switched on.”
The Sun Fest is a celebration with some of South Africa’s finest musicians and will take place at various venues around Sun City starting from December 15 to 19. Various packages will be on offer.
The Carols by Candlelight event takes place on 24 December in the Amphitheatre and boasts an array of live performances.
The Resort has created a special away-from-home lunch on 25 December, which will be hosted in the King’s Ballroom paired with live entertainment, buskers and a buffet topped with traditional seasonal delights, from a salad bar to a hot buffet and carvery.
“What makes Sun City unique is that the property offers so many different accommodation options, from four internationally recognised hotels, the lavish The Palace, tropical five-star Cascades, always-on Soho or the island-styled Cabanas. For those wanting to ensure self-catering family holidays into the future, the Sun Vacation Club is extremely popular, as seen by it already being completely sold out in December.”
Sun City was recently named Africa’s Leading Family Resort in the 2021 World Travel Awards, proving that South Africans have the best of the best right on their local doorstep.
For those who prefer less hustle and bustle, but equally great weather and vibe, January bookings are still available.
