The Marine Hotel in Hermanus is concluding its current series of food and wine pairing dinners on Friday 6 September 2024, when it joins forces with Bouchard Finlayson to present a gourmet experience over five courses. Head Chef Oelof Vorster’s culinary creations will be complemented by wines from the Hemel en Aarde winery, presented by Assistant Winemaker Barend Erasmus, in The Origins Restaurant.
Canapés will be served on arrival with a glass of Blanc de Mer 2024, followed by starter courses of prawns and pineapple curry enjoyed with the Sauvignon Blanc 2024; and linefish perfectly paired with the Crocodile’s Lair Chardonnay 2023. The main course of seared kudu loin promises a feast of flavours enhanced by the Galpin Peak Pinot Noir 2022, before the dinner ends on a high note with a Chevin custard tart paired with the 2021 vintage of the Aurum straw wine.
The event starts at 18h30 and bookings are now open at a cost of R745 per person. Tel (028) 313 1000 or email bookings@themarine.co.za. Diners may also enquire about the best available rate to spoil themselves with a stayover in the luxury of this 5-star hotel, a proud member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
About The Marine
The Marine, a member of The Liz McGrath Collection, is one of South Africa’s most spectacular seaside hotels. Located on Hermanus’ famous cliff path, overlooking the breathtaking Walker Bay, the Small Luxury Hotels of the World property offers visitors the unique opportunity to experience the finest land-based whale watching in the world from June to November each year. Guests are even able to view these majestic creatures from the comfort of their own sea view room. The Overberg region is also a must for adventure sport seekers, offering a host of activities – including hiking, mountain biking and marine sports.
Back at the hotel, guests can indulge in exceptional culinary delights created by Head Chef Oelof Vorster: from breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Pavilion Restaurant, to Afternoon Tea and sundowners in the Sun Lounge & Bar.
The 40 elegantly appointed rooms and suites include 10 Luxury Doubles with Sea View and 10 Premier Suites – both categories are perfectly positioned for watching pods of dolphins and whales as they swim in the bay below. Guests may take a refreshing dip in The Marine’s pool, located in the hotel’s tranquil courtyard, or in the Tidal Pool, which can be accessed from the cliff path.
