Narrated by the Sheriff of Nottingham, this adaptation is suitable for children and adults, showing at Carnival City
With school holidays coming up, parents looking for ideas to entertain the kids can head over to the Mardi Gras Theatre at Carnival City to enjoy the Adventures of Robin Hood.
“The Adventures of Robin Hood” is based on a script by J.M. Brink but has been adapted and rewritten by writer Danielle Retief to suit a broader audience of young kids and adults.
This production will look at the Sheriff of Nottingham’s perspective on Robin Hood and Prince John. Usually the Sheriff is the villian, but he becomes a narrator in this piece. The story points out the characters flaws and mistaken, preconceived notions about each other. The play brings together the classic Prince of Thieves characters, including Maid Marian, Little John, Friar Tuck, Will Scarlett and Martha the Nurse.
The moral of this action packed adventure will demonstrate to young minds that a good team is made up of a variety of people which each have unique and brilliant skills – that mutual respect is the only way you can achieve success.
The cast includes:
· Rowen von Gericke as Robin Hood
· Deanre Reiners as Prince John
· Danielle Retief as Maid Marian
· Jesse Fourie as Friar Tuck
· Wenzel Grobler as the Sheriff
· Tivan de Villiers as Little John
· Jay Lombard as Nurse Martha and Will Scarlett
The show had a successful run at the Free State Arts Festival in 2019.
