Enjoy these iconic titles at the throwback ticket price of just R50 at select Ster-Kinekor cinemas
October 1994 saw the release of three quite different, but all equally remarkable, smash hit movies that topped the box-office and were some of the highest grossing titles of that year. Thirty years later, Ster-Kinekor is bringing these three must-see titles back to the big screen for its Throwback Cinema promotion during October 2024. And, the best news is the ticket price, at just R50.
Having garnered 20 nominations and seven Academy Awards between them, they are: The Shawshank Redemption starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman, releasing on 04 October; the delightful, multi-awarded film, Forrest Gump starring Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks from 11 October; and the iconic Pulp Fiction, releasing on 25 October, featuring an all-star cast including mesmerising performances from John Travolta, Uma Thurman and Samuel L. Jackson. These three titles, plus the teen horror Carrie that releases on 18 October, will be screened for one week each during October’s Throwback Cinema promotion at select Ster-Kinekor cinemas countrywide.

Throwback Cinema titles will be screened at the following Ster-Kinekor sites: Sandton and Rosebank Nouveau in Johannesburg; Irene and The Grove in Tshwane; Gateway in Umhlanga; Baywest in Gqeberha; Garden Route in George; Somerset in Somerset West; and Blue Route, Cavendish, N1 City, V&A Waterfront and Tygervalley in Cape Town.
