The Galileo Open Air Cinema – The wait is over! The Galileo’s outdoor picnic movie line-up returns for Cape Town’s summer from 15 October 2026 to 15 May 2027.

What to expect this season
For those looking for things to do in Cape Town, The Galileo offers a unique way to experience spectacular locations while enjoying a picnic and a movie under the stars. Weekday screenings take place at the picturesque Kirstenbosch Garden, while Saturdays are spent exploring venues across the Cape Winelands. This season, The Galileo also returns to popular favourites Glenelly Estate in Stellenbosch and Meerendal in the Durbanville Wine Valley, both well-loved venues that have hosted many memorable Galileo screenings.
Guests can expect both classic and contemporary movies in a wide variety of genres. The Galileo schedule runs the gamut with old-school-cool classics from 1942 to tear-jerking rom-coms from 2026, toe-tapping musicals, Bollywood, iconic cult classics, suspenseful thrillers and heart-warming family movies. The Galileo Open Air Cinema offers the ultimate setting for an enchanting evening with family, friends, romantic date nights, birthday celebrations, or even corporate parties.
Themed nights on Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day (and Galentine’s) and Easter pack in extra décor, activities, entertainment, and games and competitions. A great day out for the whole family, the Special Shows are not to be missed.
Elevate and impress at the more intimate Galileo Royale – no picnic packing required. A Royale ticket includes a welcome drink, bag of popcorn, spacious seating, fewer guests, and access to a yummy food truck and stocked bar; all culminating in the ultimate cinematic indulgence.

The pensioner and student discounts have also been reduced, with pensioner tickets on Wednesdays and student tickets on Thursdays now only R99.
