Cape Town’s winter dinner series returns for one final gathering in support of Ladles of Love
The Good Table will gather around The Gin Bar one last time this winter on Tuesday, 22 September, serving up a Heritage Day-inspired feast in support of Ladles of Love.
The September dinner marks the fifth and final event in The Good Table’s winter series which has brought Capetonians together over good food, local wine and a shared table while raising more than R50,000 for Ladles of Love. Organisers are hoping the final gathering will take that total beyond R60,000.
Taking place just two days before Heritage Day, the menu celebrates familiar South African flavours and the tradition of gathering around a pot.
Guests will have a choice of two potjies from Marn de Bluum and his team: a Durban Mutton Curry Potjie, slow-cooked with Durban masala, potato and curry leaf; or a vegetarian Cape Malay Butternut & Chickpea Potjie, made with butternut, chickpeas, lentils, Cape Malay spices and tomato.
Both will be served with steamed rice and a fresh carrot and pineapple atchar-style slaw, combining cabbage, carrot, pineapple, coriander and chilli with a spiced atchar dressing, and a sourdough bread from Jason Bakery. The wine for the evening will be provided by Zevenwacht Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, while Honest Chocolate will once again provide something sweet to finish the evening.
As with the previous dinners, The Good Table offers an opportunity to gather friends, miss the worst of the afternoon traffic and spend an evening around a communal table while supporting the work of Ladles of Love.
