We had the delightful opportunity to attend the opening performance of the much-anticipated Aladdin show at Canal Walk, and let me tell you—it was nothing short of magical!
As we stepped into the beautifully transformed Centre Court, I could feel the excitement bubbling up in the air. The enchanting atmosphere immediately set the stage for an unforgettable experience. The kids, filled with anticipation, knew they were in for a treat!
Before the show began, we were greeted with goodie bags filled with delightful snacks, perfect for enjoying while watching the performance. The laughter and chatter of children filled the space as we settled in, and soon enough, the lights dimmed, and the show began.
From the moment the show started, we were transported to the mesmerising world of Aladdin. The colourful costumes, stunning set designs, and captivating performances brought this classic story to life in a way that was fresh and exciting. The highlight for the kids (and me!) was undoubtedly the flying carpets. It was the kind of show that made you believe in magic all over again!
The kids had the incredible privilege of meeting the cast! They were utterly starstruck and couldn’t wait to take pictures with their favuorite characters. The smiles on their faces and the sparkle in their eyes were truly priceless moments.
One of the most heartwarming aspects of this production is its support for The Reach Trust, as a portion of the ticket sales goes towards early childhood development and digital literacy initiatives in underserved communities in Cape Town. It feels wonderful to know that while we enjoyed this fantastic show, we were also contributing to a great cause.
Performances run from 28 June to 20 July (closed Mondays), with three shows daily at 11am, 12:30pm and 2pm. Tickets start at R110 per person. Bookings are now open through Webtickets.
If you’re looking for a wonderful way to spend time with your family this winter, I highly recommend booking your tickets for Aladdin. Canal Walk has once again outdone itself, creating a holiday tradition that will be cherished for years to come.
