Verity Park Parkhurst was buzzing this past Saturday as Parkhurst residents, families and visitors poured into the Parkhurst Village Fair for a full day of food, music, entertainment, wellness and community fun. The annual Fair, hosted by the Parkhurst Residents and Business Owners Association (PRABOA), transformed Verity Park into a lively village gathering, with local businesses serving up food and drinks, children making their way through the Kids’ Zone and dogs enjoying their own day out alongside their owners.
As the Fair’s headline sponsor, Vuma brought several family- and pet-friendly experiences to the event. Children expressed their creativity at the Vuma Connected Creative Station, where colouring and activities kept young visitors entertained. Around the venue, Vuma-supported dog hydration stations helped Parkhurst’s four-legged visitors stay cool as they explored the Fair with their owners.
The Vuma stand also attracted visitors, with the first 100 guests receiving special rewards.
“It was fantastic to see Parkhurst out in full force. You could feel the energy across the park, from the kids getting involved in the creative activities to families and their dogs moving between the different areas. We were really pleased to be there and to play a part in making the day special for the community,” said Simon Butler, Chief Commercial Officer at Vuma.
Earlier in the morning, runners and walkers took to the streets for the 5km Fun Run/Walk, held in partnership with Pirates Running Club and PinkDrive. The event kicked off a day of activities supporting breast cancer awareness during October. PinkDrive’s mobile screening unit was also on site, giving eligible members of the community access to screening services and information. The Pink Memory Wall also created another point of connection, with visitors leaving messages and remembering loved ones affected by breast cancer.
Pink also took over the neighbourhood through “Paint Parkhurst Pink”, adding a strong visual reminder of the campaign’s message throughout the day. Plenty happened beyond the Fair’s wellness and community initiatives. The Village Market gave local businesses and makers a platform to showcase their products, while the entertainment stage kept the crowds moving with live music and performances.
The Village Vibes beer garden provided a place to relax, with local breweries, distilleries, wine and champagne on offer. Families spent time in the Kids’ Zone, while the much-loved Dog Competition drew plenty of attention from both owners and spectators. The Parkhurst Rusk-Off was also back for its second year, with local bakers hoping to impress returning judge YaYa and take home the neighbourhood bragging rights.
For the businesses taking part, the Fair offered a direct connection with the people who live, work and spend time in Parkhurst. For the community, it was a chance to support those businesses while enjoying a day out close to home. With the Fair having run until 5pm, visitors were able to enjoy a full day of activities, entertainment and community connection at Verity Park.
