The warmer weather has returned just in time for families to enjoy being out and about this Heritage Day, and Eastgate shoppers have a lot to look forward to. The centre’s popular Heritage Day festivities are set for the whole family to enjoy, now with additional entertainment at the recently opened Drive-In.
Local musician Thomas Dyani alongside Ntokozo Hill (DJ Stallion) who are known to create an upbeat ambience when performing together, will be live on the Eastgate Piazza on Friday, 24 September 2021. Families and friends will have an opportunity to enjoy this show which includes dancers while sipping on a drink, enjoying a milkshake or tucking into a hearty meal at one of the many restaurants Eastgate has to offer. This show is hosted in conjunction with Megan Carlese Productions who support local artists that have been under strain during lockdown.
Movie lovers have plenty of enticing options at the Eastgate Drive-In, as the award-winning Hidden Figures staring Taraji Henson, Octavia Spencer and Kevin Costner will screen on Friday 24 September at 18:30. The popular animated feature Madagascar will screen on Saturday 25 September at 17:30 with Invictus starring Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon at 19:00. The Eastgate Drive-In affords people the choice of purchasing snacks from the confectionary stand, or ordering a meal that will be delivered to the drive-in from one of the centre’s restaurants.
Additionally, shoppers are invited to count the flags as the centre’s popular outdoor piazza is set to be adorned with multiple South African flags on Heritage Day weekend, in order to stand in line to win a R3 000 shopping voucher. Simply SMS “Eastgate”, followed by how many flags you think there are and your name to 43366 (Standard SMS rates apply), and you could win what could lead to the shopping spree of a lifetime.
“The Heritage Day celebrations at Eastgate Shopping Centre have been a firm favourite for many years, and we are thrilled to continue these festivities this year” said Kelly Belman, General Manager for Eastgate Shopping Centre, commented. “From our diverse food offering, to live music, great films, an explosion of South Africa’s colours on the piazza and just the general ambience, Eastgate is the place to be this Heritage Day weekend,” she added.
