ASICS is proud to present the HAL STUDIOS x ASICS GEL-NYC™ 2.0, the first instalment of the H.S.D.T. Signature Series. The collaboration reinterprets the GEL-NYC™ 2.0 through a concept-led lens that blends ASICS’ running DNA with HAL STUDIOS’ philosophy-driven approach to material, culture, and design.
Building on the duo’s previous collaboration, this release marks a new chapter, one that positions the GEL-NYC™ 2.0 not simply as a seasonal update, but as a vehicle for storytelling rooted in New York City and the way people move through urban environments.
INSPIRED BY THE ARCHITECTURE OF EVERYDAY LIFE
Guided by the theme “The Architecture of Everyday Life,” the HAL STUDIOS x ASICS GEL-NYC™ 2.0 draws inspiration from New York City’s overlooked structures, scaffolding, steel frameworks, concrete surfaces, bridges, and railway lines that quietly support daily life.
Rather than referencing iconic skylines, the design celebrates the city’s functional backbone. Raw textures, layered panels, and industrial detailing translate these elements into a sneaker that feels grounded, practical, and intentionally restrained. The result is a refined expression of Blue-Collar Luxury, where function and material integrity lead the design.
ENGINEERED FOR EVERYDAY MOVEMENT
The GEL-NYC™ 2.0 remains anchored in ASICS’ proven platform, delivering the comfort and stability. Key updates include a slightly chunkier midsole, removed mudguard, oval-shaped heel cutouts, and offset underlays that create added visual depth. Strategically placed GEL™ cushioning and refined tooling ensure comfort and durability for daily wear, reinforcing the idea that performance technology can be seamlessly adapted for everyday movement.

ASICS research shows that walking mechanics differ from running patterns. The thoughtful construction of the GEL-NYC™ 2.0 shoe had this insight in mind, featuring an asymmetrical arch support system and flex grooves that promote efficient stride patterns.
