We recently visited Ocean Basket at the V&A Waterfront on the Day of Reconciliation, and as expected, the queue was quite long because of the public holiday. Despite this, the experience started off on a positive note thanks to the friendly and well-organised staff. Once we were seated, we were welcomed with complimentary fresh bread and sauces. True to Ocean Basket’s tradition, they invite you to break bread with them, serving every guest fresh homemade bread rolls, which was a warm and comforting way to start the meal.

My friends and I were taken care of by Moses and Kholo, who were absolutely amazing – attentive, warm, and always smiling. Ginger also came by to check in on us and make sure the food was good, adding a personal and thoughtful touch that really stood out.

We were excited to try the new summer menu! These incredible Dezemba deals are running until 31 January 2026, making it perfect for sharing and definitely worth trying while it’s available. We chose the Seafood Trio + Soda Combo, which offered excellent value. The meal included rice, prawns, calamari, shrimps, mussels, and fries – a generous and delicious spread that satisfied every seafood craving.

Another highlight was the Sushi 13 Platter special. Each piece was beautifully presented and packed with fresh, well-balanced flavours. The 4 saucy rainbow rolls were rich and indulgent, offering a perfect combination of creamy, savoury notes with just the right amount of sauce. The 4 prawn California rolls were light and satisfying, with a subtle sweetness from the prawns that paired perfectly with the seasoned rice. The 3 avocado maki added a fresh, clean bite that balanced out the platter, while the 2 salmon roses were silky, delicate, and simply melted in the mouth. Overall, the platter felt generous, fresh, and thoughtfully put together, making it a standout experience and a must-try for sushi lovers, especially as part of the festive Dezemba special.
The kids enjoyed fish pops and fries, paired with milkshakes, which they absolutely loved. We also ordered a few drinks to cool down while soaking up the lively Waterfront atmosphere.

We wrapped up our meal by getting the Marcels Frozen Yoghurt Sticks, which were the perfect sweet ending — Vanilla with caramel crunch coating, Lemon Poppy with yoghurt coating, and Salted Caramel with choc mint coating. Refreshing, indulgent, and fun for both kids and adults.

Overall, even with the long wait due to the public holiday, our experience at Ocean Basket V&A Waterfront was fantastic. The atmosphere was lively yet welcoming, the service was attentive without feeling rushed, and the food arrived fresh and well presented. With great value, festive summer specials, and excellent service, this is definitely a deal people should not miss this season.
